Pros: A local Mexican restaurant, GUACAMOLE! The rice was fantastic and the tacos were good

Cons: Way too expensive. Other food was basic and not worth the expense.

Ordered a variety of food for take out. Everything from the chips, the food to sauces was outstanding. Seasoning was perfect and meats lean. At pickup, food was ready and I was greeted with a smile from the owner and staff.

Never heard of It before and went to try It out. I fell in love. Fast service and the food is crazy good. We got the stuffed sweet plantain special with ground beef and fresh guacamole. We shared the fajitas for two and the red sangria. Food is outstanding, the drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommend.

The Service and Food was outstanding. The server recommendations were top notch. The Friday night appetizer special was terrific. Plaintain stuffed with Chorizo & Cheese, with a great sauce. Carnitas and Guacamole was the best I've had anywhere. This is a gem on Staten Island !!

  • *****

Great tacos and wife really enjoyed her burger and fries. The el camino taco was my favorites. Great selection of beer on tap. Very reasonable prices. We got there about 5:20 and there was only a short line to order. By the time we were leaving at 6 the line was all the way to the door. Would definitely come back again.

Super tasty food and reasonable price

  • *****

Really incredible Mexican food made by people who obviously care . We went for dinner and found everything we had uniformly excellent. From the sangria to the daily appetizer special chicken empanadas to the fajitas for two, and even the complimentary chips and salsa, everything was great. Flavorful, served piping hot, wonderful sauces. Service was friendly.
Note that it might take a bit if looking for on street parking, but believe me when I tell you that the food is worth it

Had a gift certificate didnt even know they were there. Tacos amazing, sangria Excellent.

Great food, prices & service, bar none

  • *****

The food was really good. It was on the more expensive side but it was really good quality. A side note though, they don't serve margaritas.

  • *****

The food is amazing, the red sangria was amazing, and the waitress Gina was hands down the best waitress ever! I’d recommend this restaurant and that waitress to anyone!

I tried this place with a Groupon from local flavor. They give you unlimited chips and salsa which I should have known I would fill up on, but they're so good. We shared the fajitas for 2, which really should have been fajitas for 4 since they give you so much. They mix chicken, steak, pork and shrimp with it. It's so hearty and the onions and peppers were grilled to perfection. We also ordered a pitcher of Sangria of which we got a good 10 glasses from, however just know it's pricey! $32.99 for a pitcher, I think is a little outrageous for a Staten Island spot. While it was delicious I'm still shell shocked over the price.

All in all it was definitely good food and I would return, but maybe have 1 glass of sangria as opposed to a whole pitcher.

Great place for Mexican which on SI is hard to come by. Authentic Mexican great selection and everything so far has been great. They have a good staff and very clean. The Guacamole is made to order and the nachos supreme are our favorite apps., the tequila lime shrimp is a special but excellent and also the fajitas and burritos all good and don't forget to get the sangria I prefer the white but the red is just as good and on Thursday's the have 1/2 price pitchers of sangria.

  • *****

I will give it a 5 for the food. The food was outstanding. The service was sub par but the food made up for the service. If you go expect to wait for service. They are a bit disorganized bit the food is worth it.

  • *****

We've been there twice and I felt the need to review after having dinner there today. Our server Gina was absolutely amazing, she's the one with the glasses and long black hair. I had the enchildas ranchera which is so yummy and my boyfriend had the don cesar burrito which he loved as well. The sauces they use and the perfection of how they cook the pork are well appreciated by me because not many places can achieve good tasting meat. Also, have the red sangria!

  • *****

Great food! The service was a little slow, but the food sure made up for that. On Monday nights they have a great deal for parents and children. They also have costume characters, so it helps entertain the children.

Had dinner tonight with my wife and place was nice and little empty for a Saturday night but what ever we wondered in and was happy there was no wait.
We were seated right away. We did a pitcher of sangria my wife and I enjoyed it. Had a good taste.
We did fresh guacamole with chips the guac was really good.
I did the super enchiladas 2 chicken and 2 beef.
Portion was huge had to take one home
And they tasted really good. My wife did a steak burrito she loved it. And said it had a great taste and also it was huge.
My only gripe is the menu didn't have a lot
    Of variety. I noticed only
Apps and starters were nacho and chip based and then main was only really a few different tacos and burritos and enchiladas. Also a few platters. I guess that's what they are going for keeping it simple but other wise it was a good meal I'll Def go back

  • *****

If they would lower the price of their sangria more than one night they'd have a hell of a lot more customers but the food is excellent and authentic

  • *****

Good Mexican food very nice wait staff the burrito I had was huge and very filling the only drawback to this place is it doesn't have a liquor license beer and wine only but a must try

  • *****

    Pretty good selection and tasty
    Cloth napkins would be nice
Great sangria but your better off getting the pitcher on Thursdays for $15 or else it's $9 for a glass

I came here with my family for Valentine's Day and I was not disappointed. First, they gave us chips and salsa. I'm a little confused as to the reviews that said their chips were stale, I felt that they were fresh and seemed home made ... the salsa was a little thin for my taste but the flavor was definitely good. For the entree, I ordered the burrito Mexican and thought it was so good ... doesn't come with any sides but honestly it was big enough that I didn't need any. My cousin and aunt both ordered shrimp quesadillas. They were happy but wished it was bigger. One downside is hat I was hoping to have a margarita, but they don't have a liquor license yet so only wine, beer or sangria. We decided to get the white sangria and were really surprised at how amazing it was, it even came with a little candy in each glass to add flavor : ) during the meal we ordered the mortar of mild guacamole ... it came quickly and was nice and chunky, full of pieces of avocado, tomato, and onion. Overall, I was really excited impressed with this place and can't wait to come back

  • *****

Great food and great hospitality. The sangria is fantastic.

  • *****

Food was excellent Sangria was great and Fabrezio the waiter was very attentive. Owners were very nice. I will definitely return soon.

A nice place for dinner with family or friends. Good dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. Friendly staff that knows their menu.

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant on the island and stumbled on this place. The food was PHENOMENAL the service was lovely and he sangria was good. 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back!!

Went there this past Friday. It was a pleasant surprise. Great food , good service and large portions. Tapped beer at $5 a pint. My wife and I started with the chorizo and cheese quesadilla with fresh guacamole and crema . The guacamole was fresh , bright and delicious. We shared the mixed fajita for two ,which is prepared fresh per order , so it took some time. A very large portion containing chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. The sauce created by the sizzling pans carmelization was great. It is served with rice, refried beans ,guac and crema. For desert we shared the fried pita chips dusted with cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice cream, very good. All in all a great meal with enough for dinner left overs the next day.

  • *****

Great mexican food big beer selection . Friendly atmosphere.

  • *****

Excellent food, friendly and informative wait staff.

  • *****

Fajitas and guac were fantastic! Love the sangria! Service was fast, owner is very personable. I'm a tottenville resident and will be back! Thanks hector!!

  • *****

Very good fajitas for two. Disappointed that they don't include guacamole for the platter. Good food, nice people a little pricey. Just a suggestion: you should offer 1/2 pitcher of Sangria, sometimes a whole pitcher is too much.

  • *****

Really good authentic Mexican food. I loved the shrimp diablo light and fresh !!!!!! Definitely will be back very generous wine pours after a long week of work

Went there with the family tonight (wife and 2 kids ages 7 & 4). Family friendly atmosphere. We arrived there around 6 and were seated quickly. Our waiter quickly bought us our drinks and chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. Definitely made in house. Had a nice kick to it. We just ordered our entrees. My wife had the Tacos al Pastor: prom Tacos with pineapple. Yes, pineapple. Now everyone knows that pineapple has NO place on a pizza but let me tell you, pork and pineapple tacos are AMAZING! Full of flavor that cannot be described. I had the mojo shrimp. This was a flavorful dish. A delicious sauce of garlic and spices over the shrimp with onions. Served with yellow rice, lettuce and avocado. The kids had steak tacos which were good as well cause the kids ate them all. For dessert, we all shared the churros. Comes with 4 churros and a small bowl of vanilla ice cream. The churros were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Drizzled with caramel and chocolate added to the flavor.
Service in here was friendly and fast. It was loud and perfect for the family as my kids are not quiet. I hope this restaurant does well in this neighborhood and I know we will be going back.

Great food great prices great customer service ask for luis. You won't be disappointed

Newly opened authentic Mexican cuisine. The food was delicious. I guess they are still working out some kinks with service and kitchen but everything was fine. There is street parking available. The atmosphere appeared family oriented, maybe later at night it more of an adult ambience. This place will definitely be revisited by me.

  • *****

Really great service, really great food... I would definitely come back and I'm excited they came to the neighborhood

  • *****

Very good tacos and sangria. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, we'll definitely be back. Added bonus was that the Staff was friendly and attentive.

  • *****

Great place for a casual night out. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The Sangria is wonderful. The food is very good. The owner makes a point of visiting each table to ensure customers are satisfied. It's a frequent go to place.

One of the cool, new spots to satisfy your Mexican food cravings in Staten Island. This restaurant is simple yet elegant. Service is very good; our server was Jackie and was very nice and friendly....checked on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. For appetizers we had the Choriquesadilla which was delicious (strongly recommend this dish). For my main entree I had the Camarones a la Diabla and my girlfriend had the Tacos al Pastor...both very tasty dishes. My sister had the Pollo Loco which she loves. For our dessert, we shared Churros with banana filling which was absolutely amazing. Next time you're in the mood for some Mexican cuisine, make the trip down to this new South Shore spot, you won't be disappointed.

So my wife and I along with our son were looking for something on this Saturday afternoon other than Italian. I stumbled upon Don Cesar. We both were very hesitant and nervous because we were the only people in the restaurant. We stuck it out and stayed. I am glad that we did the food was delicious, so flavorful! My wife and I are guilty of judging a book by its cover. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very pleasant. I just prefer chunky salsa as to the thinner salsa they serve. We definitely will return! I hope this place makes it.

Tried the fresh guacamole, the special of the night - shrimp with lime, green tomatoes and tequila , chicken and beef fajitas. All were fantastic. Huge glasses of sangria. Waiter was extremely attentive and accommodating. Restaurant is cozy , comfortable and tastefully decorated. One of the best Mexican meals we've had. The owner introduced himself and greeted all the diners. Definitely will be back!

First I'd like to say that the south shore of Staten Island has been desperate for a good Mexican restaurant. Well, we've finally got one! It was my first time here and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This place is really good! We started with some guacamole (delish) then I had the taco salad, my husband had chicken enchiladas and we were both very happy with our choices. Our waiter was very attentive and kind. We finished off with fried ice cream and we left happy campers. Will definitely return soon!
Side note, my sister in law says their Sangria is awesome!

Favorite place to eat. Well priced, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. The food never dissapoints and you'll never make a wrong choice from the menu. All food down to tortilla chips is made fresh daily. Highly suggest the red sangira.

This place is 2 weeks old and already creating a stellar reputation for itself on the Island of Staten. It's a haul down Amboy Road pretty much all the way to the water.

In fact, as a former Staten Islander who now lives in Brooklyn, I forgot how quiet it is that far south. With that said, it helps create the atmosphere that you're actually getting away from it all (at least a little bit) and heading off the beaten path for something new and exciting.

Hands down, the food is amazing. Not quite "elite eater Manhattan" amazing but, by all accounts it holds up against (perhaps even more so) staples like Adobe Blues, Maizal and Bay Ridge's Casa Pepe. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. The house salsa has just the right amount of kick to it and the selection of sangria and wines are good pairings for the fare.

I had the steak/chicken combo fajitas and my wife had the cheese enchiladas platter. Both were delicious. We cleared out plates. The fajitas could have been served in a more "sizzling" fashion but they still came out plenty hot. Rice and beans on the side were standard fare and par for the cuisine.

For dessert, the flan was quite possibly the best I'd ever had. And the fried ice cream was decent but not mind-blowingly spectacular. In retrospect, I should have tried the tres leches or the churros (they were banana-filled!)

The owner and his wife were there walking around talking to all the patrons. They were clearly proud of their efforts to keep things made in-house, home grown and locally sourced. You could tell they were clearly authentic people. They even shared some of their challenges about new wait staff transition, training and maintaining professionalism and talent, specifically amongst the wait staff. Our waiter could have been more attentive and responsible but I don't usually count that against my ratings. They demand the best of their employees and it shows.

Wrapping up, this place will get famous and crowded soon so be sure to check it out before it turns into the next Angelinas.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. A few people there and the atmosphere was relaxed.
We were greeted by a young waitress eager to keep up happy.
We wanted something quick and easy and shared a quesadilla for 2. It was stuffed to the max, overflowing with cheese, chicken and beef.
Contrary to some of the reviews, we thought it was a nice local place for south of the border food.

    We'll go back

  • *****

Just opened so I'm giving it 4 stars... If their quality stays up I'll definitely edit my review to make it 5 stars.

Recently enjoyed a dinner for two here and there was no small talk.... Everything was a bite then a "OH MY GOD THIS IS SO GOOD"

Enjoyed the fresh guacamole and chips as an appetizer with a pitcher of sangria. Both great. The sangria is the refreshing damn-I-can-drink-this-all-night kind.

For dinner we had shrimp and veggie quesadillas- amazing . Perfect.

Service was great. Definitely worth a trip into Tottenville.

My husband, family, and I love this restaurant! The food is delicious, the family and staff are wonderful, and the decor is warm and cozy. We highly recommend it, and in fact, plan on bringing our friends and family from out of town in the very near future to share the experience!

Great food. Reasonably priced. Great service and nice people. Gotta try the Enchiladas Rancheras.
